Being a parent of a teenager can cure a person of narcissism.

"The thing that impresses me most about North America is the way parents obey their children"    (King Edward VII , 1841-1910)

If you are headed in the wrong direction as a parent - you are allowed to make a U-turn.

Relationships matter:  change comes through forming trusting relationships. People, not programs change people.

Wouldn't it be nice if children would simply listen and learn.

"To be a man, a boy must see a man."  (J.R. Moehringer)

If it  was going to be easy to raise kids, it never would have started with something called "labour".

You cannot reason with someone who is being unreasonable.

The more 2 parents differ in their approaches to discipline, the more likely it leads to trouble for the child.

"Moody" and "unpredictable" are adjectives parents will often use when referring to their teenagers.

Prevalence of ADD / ADHD

Various experts give different rates of prevalence but most say between 5 – 10 % of North American children have one or the other – that’s a lot. It means that there are probably 2 or 3 children in most classrooms that have one of these disorders – and school can be a very unfriendly place for a child with ADD / ADHD.

The researchers tell us that about 70% of these children will carry at least some of their symptoms into adulthood:

– some of those adults are doing well

– some are doing OK

– some are doing poorly
