There has been an explosion in the prescribing of medication for very young children, particularly preschool and kindergarten boys (Juli Zito , Univ. of Maryland)

Wouldn't it be nice if children would simply listen and learn.

If you are headed in the wrong direction as a parent - you are allowed to make a U-turn.

"The thing that impresses me most about North America is the way parents obey their children"    (King Edward VII , 1841-1910)

Some hope their children will be like sponges soaking up the truth and wisdom imparted by their parents. However appealing this philosophy might be, it seldom seems to catch on with their children.

You cannot reason with someone who is being unreasonable.

It is what we say and do when we're angry that creates the very model our children will follow when dealing with their own frustrations.

A tantruming toddler is a little ball of writhing muscle and incredible strength. It's like trying to carry a greased pig past a slop bucket.

Children do not develop on their own - they only develop within relationships.

The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice. (Peggy O'Mara)

Moms Are Special

The following was sent to me by a friend and I do not know where it originated. Questions were asked to young children and  their answers are delightful.

1. Why did God make moms?

To help us out of there when we were born.

2. How did God make mothers?

God made my mom just the same like He made me. He just used bigger parts.

3. What ingredients are mothers made of?

God made moms out of clouds of dust and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.

4. What kind of little girl was your mom?

I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.

5. Why did your mom marry your dad?

My grandma says mom didn’t have her thinking cap on.

6. Who’s the boss at your house?

Mom doesn’t want to be the boss but she has to because dad’s such a goof ball.

7. What’s the difference between moms and dads?

Mom’s have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

8. What would it take to make your mom perfect?

On the inside she’s already perfect. Outside, I think some plastic surgery.
